Shopify Store Launch
Move the merchant to a verified launch without making business decisions on their behalf.
Start With The Store State
Establish whether the merchant has:
- no Shopify account;
- an account but no configured store;
- a partially configured store; or
- a store that only needs launch review.
Ask what a successful end state means to them and whether they want planning only or planning plus assisted Shopify Admin configuration. If they want configuration, explain that protected actions still require confirmation.
Run An Adaptive Questionnaire
Read references/questionnaire.md before starting or resuming the intake.
Treat the conversation as a form:
- Ask one compact section at a time, normally one to three related questions.
- Prefer selectable answers and include
Not surewhen the merchant may not know. - Explain a term only when it affects the answer.
- Reuse answers and inspect authorized store data instead of asking twice.
- Skip branches that cannot affect this store.
- Separate confirmed answers, reasonable recommendations, and unresolved blockers.
Use the merchant's language unless they request another one. Preserve current Shopify setting labels when quoting the interface helps them follow along.
Recommend defaults when the merchant is unsure, and give the deciding reason. The merchant owns product claims, pricing, markets, budget, risk tolerance, legal policies, tax obligations, and the decision to launch.
The intake is complete when there is enough information to produce an actionable launch plan and every launch-blocking unknown is visible. It does not require every optional preference to be decided.
Confirm The Launch Brief
Before changing Shopify Admin, present a concise brief containing:
- business and launch goal;
- products and catalog shape;
- target markets, currency, and languages;
- brand and storefront direction;
- payments, tax, shipping, returns, and fulfillment choices;
- domain, essential integrations, budget, and target date;
- assumptions, recommendations, and unresolved blockers;
- the exact configuration work proposed.
Ask the merchant to confirm or correct the brief. Confirmation authorizes only the described reversible configuration work. A material change to the brief requires a new confirmation.
Configure The Store
Read references/store-execution.md when the merchant asks for Shopify Admin assistance or launch verification.
Use an available browser-control capability with the merchant's authenticated session. Start with a read-only inspection, reconcile the store against the confirmed brief, then execute the approved work in small verifiable batches. Follow the current Shopify Admin interface and current official Shopify Help Center guidance for plan-, country-, payment-, tax-, or UI-dependent details.
Pause and let the merchant enter passwords, one-time codes, recovery codes, banking details, government identifiers, and other secrets. Do not ask them to paste secrets into chat.
Obtain a fresh, specific confirmation immediately before each protected action:
- creating a Shopify account or accepting merchant agreements;
- starting or changing a paid plan, trial, app, theme, or service;
- purchasing, transferring, or changing DNS for a domain;
- activating a payment provider or submitting banking or identity data;
- enabling or materially changing tax collection;
- publishing legal policies or regulated product claims;
- sending customer-facing messages;
- placing, refunding, cancelling, or otherwise affecting a real order;
- removing storefront password protection or making the store public;
- deleting or overwriting existing store data.
State the item, price or consequence when known, and the exact action being authorized. Approval for one protected action does not authorize another.
Verify Before Declaring Success
Verify the observable storefront and critical commerce path, not merely saved settings. Cover only applicable checks from the execution reference, record evidence, and distinguish passed, failed, blocked, and merchant-owned checks.
Finish with:
- the confirmed launch brief;
- actions completed and their verification results;
- protected actions approved by the merchant;
- remaining blockers, owner, and next action;
- a clear launch status:
Not ready,Ready for merchant review, orLive and verified.
Use Live and verified only after the public storefront and an appropriate checkout path have been observed successfully.
